FREE Today!! Book Review: Waterfall (River of Time #1) by Lisa Tawn Bergen

February 2011, 384 pages.

Amazon Description:
Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Bentarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives with their parents, famed Etruscan scholars, among the romantic hills. In Book One of the River of Time series, Gabi and Lia are stuck among the rubble of medieval castles in rural Tuscany on yet another hot, boring, and dusty archeological site … until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.
And thus she comes to be rescued by the knight-prince Marcello Falassi, who takes her back to his father’s castle—a castle Gabi has seen in ruins in another life. Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting. But what do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?
My Review: Waterfall is the story of two sisters who travel to Italy for the summer while their archeologist mom goes through ruins. They enter a tomb with their mom and somehow end up in the same place--only it's 1332. There are real knights and real battles. The sisters, Gabi and Lia, are separated and it's now a quest to find one another and return home. But a lot of things stand in their way.

I really enjoyed the writing style. The common here and now expressions, words, language was true to form and had the people from the middle ages baffled. I love how self reliant and tough Gabi is. I wanted to hate Lady Rossi, but she was so sweet that hating her was hard to do. Ah, Marcello.....a swoon-worthy character. Tough, yet sweet. Fun, fun time travel story.

This book is FREE on Amazon right now. Be be warned--once you start the series, you won't want to stop!! Pick up your copy here .
