Review: Drowning Sandy by Sarah Daley

Drowning Sandy by Sarah Daley

Expected publication: July 6th 2015
My Rating: 4 Stars
Source: I received a copy in exchange for an honest review
Description: The water is calling...
and Sandy can no longer resist the urge to unleash her mermaid form. But a simple swim in Lake Ontario ends when she discovers the truth of her own banishment. When long time crush, Alardo, seems to shift in a direction she never dreamed possible, Sandy must make a choice — mermaid or human? Once she chooses, she can never go back. Review: I found this premise to be very fascinating! I've always been intrigued by mermaids and I've also always thought they only lived in oceans. These mermaids live in a lake. How cool is that?!
I just discovered, when the cover was revealed, that this is a prequel to what promises to be a fun new series. I love the imaginative way things were set up. I'm always curious to see how an author will transform humans into mermaids and the way their world will be set up--I wasn't disappointed.
The relationships were interesting. Sandy is a twin and her mother is human, but her father is a merman. She meets old friends, bothersome acquaintances, and other family members when she ventures out to find her father, against her mother's wishes. The associations and events that occurred left me wanting to know more, so I was happy to see this series will continue on. I don't want to give anything away, but it is a fun start to a clean romance.
Content: mild romance (kissing); nothing else of note. Clean!
